News Release, December 6, 2005
Hyperdelivery Systems announces that the gas cycling action offered in its 50 cal. BMG semiautomatic rifle, the hyperDEL™ 53 [renamed hyperDEL™50], has been Patented in the United States, Pat. No. 6971202.
The Patent means that Hyperdelivery Systems has licensed protection to exclusively manufacture and/or distribute the Patented design in the United States.
The Patented design allows for a compact arrangement of functional parts for reciprocating, long throw bolts, in semiautomatic cycling actions typified by rifles chambered in large calibers like the 50 cal. BMG, or others. Without the Patented features, the rifle pull (distance from trigger to butt pad) would have to be too long to be ergonomically practical, given other functional considerations, like the use of "AR15" fire control parts, and a sealed ejection port when in battery, etc. The design is a gas impingement design, most similar to the "AR15."
The design also provides for the machining of features using mill and lathe tooling, from readily available mill forms, without the need for metal castings, which contributes to lower final costs.
Hyperdelivery Systems is in the process of prototyping the design for eventual manufacture and sales in the United States.
